ASHBURTON PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked away on Fakenham Road, Ashburton Park presents itself as one of those pleasantly unremarkable suburban barbecue spots that somehow manages to get everything right. The barbecue facilities are sensibly positioned among sturdy picnic tables, creating that effortless flow between cooking and eating that separates the decent parks from the chaotic ones. What particularly impressed was the thoughtful inclusion of a proper play area – close enough for parental supervision, far enough to avoid the inevitable cricket ball disasters. The parking situation, mercifully, doesn't require the usual suburban treasure hunt, with several spots conveniently positioned nearby. It's the sort of place that delivers exactly what weekend families need without any unnecessary complications.
